Michael Veatch Named Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Michael Veatch won his first career individual title Saturday at the Miami Invitational, clocking in with a first-place time of 25:27.32. Locked in a neck-and-neck battle with sophomore teammate and reigning Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week Brad Untrauer, Veatch used a late surge in the final 200 meters of the 8K course to jump ahead of Untrauer and win the individual title by almost three seconds. It was Veatch's second consecutive top-10 finish at the Miami Invitational after placing seventh overall last season, and it also was Veatch's fourth career top-10 finish. Veatch's first-place showing also helped Miami win the meet by a 44-point margin and finish with 17 points, just two shy of the lowest possible point total.

Jason Headman won the four-mile run at the Tommy Evans Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a time of 21:06. His effort was five seconds better than teammate Craig Rupe. UA runners controlled four out of the first six spots of the race to win the event with 25 points.

Robinson won his first race as a Bobcat Saturday as he outran 36 other runners at the Green and White Invitational, with a time of 16:10 in the Men’s 5k race. The freshman helped Ohio win the team title. He edged out Shawnee State’s Scott Lemaster by ten seconds. Robinson was one of four Bobcats who finished in the top five.
