Akron, Ohio - The top seed Kent State Golden Flashes clench their spot in the MAC Tournament with a 1-0 win over Northern Illinois consolation finals.
Beth Cindar scored the lone run for the Golden Flashes with her 11th homerun of the season in the top of the fifth inning. Senior Kylie Reynolds got the win for KSU after striking out nine batters and allowing five hits. Reynolds improved her season record to 26-15.
For the Huskies on the mound sophomore Morgan Bittner also struck out nine batters and only allowed two hits in the loss. First baseman Jennifer Barnett led the Huskies offensively with two hits.
Northern Illinois finishes the season 25-34 while KSU is 33-21. Kent State advances to the MAC Championship game for the second time in three years to play Ball State.
