TOLEDO, OH - Toledo ended the game with a 15-4 run over the final three-plus minutes to claim a 58-55 victory over Delaware in the first round of the WNIT on Wednesday at Savage Arena. With the win, the Rockets improve to 24-8 on the season. The 2010-11 Mid-American Conference regular-season champions will now host the winner of the Tennessee Tech-Auburn contest in a second-round matchup on Saturday, March 19 at noon.
Sophomore Yolanda Richardson paced the Rockets with 14 points and nine boards off the bench. The second-year letterwinner has now scored in double figures in three of the last six games.
Joining Richardson in double digits was redshirt freshman Andola Dortch with 13 points, four helpers and two thefts. UT also received outstanding efforts from senior Jessica Williams (9 pts.), junior Naama Shafir (8 pts., 4 asts.) and senior Melissa Goodall (7 pts.) to advance to the second round of the postseason tourney for the second-consecutive season.
