MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES 2011 ACADEMIC ALL-MAC WRESTLING TEAM
10 Student-Athletes are honored in voting by conference Faculty Athletic Representatives

Cleveland, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2011 Academic All-MAC Wrestling team today, as voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. A total of 10 student-athletes were named to the team.
Kevin Smith (2009, 2010, 2011), a junior from Buffalo, and Ross Tice (2009, 2010, 2011) a senior from Kent State, are both three-time Academic All-MAC honorees.
Two-time selections include: junior John-Martin Cannon of Buffalo (2010, 2011); sophomore Donnie Corby of Central Michigan (2010, 2011); sophomore Aaron Sulzer of Eastern Michigan (2010, 2011); and senior Vince Castillo of Northern Illinois (2010, 2011).
First time honorees include: Scott Mattingly, Central Michigan; Corey Phillips, Eastern Michigan; Wes Schroeder, Eastern Michigan; and Tommy Sasfy, Kent State.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season are only considered.
