Men’s Golfer Of The Week

Brett Cairns, Kent State, Fr., Courtland, Ontario

Freshman Brett Cairns paced the Golden Flashes to a fifth place finish at the UNC-Greensboro Brigestone Collegiate after shooting a one-under 71 and five-under (72-68-71=211) for the tournament. He rolled home 12 birdies in the 54 hole event, including six on his way to a second round 68, which equaled the lowest round of his career.  His second place finish marks the highest finish in Cairns Golden Flash career.

Ryan Gutowski, Akron, Sr., Copley, Ohio (Copley)

Gutowski had his highest overall finish of the fall at the MAC/Big East Challenge ending solo in ninth place (70-78-72 = 220).

 

Matt Schneider, Bowling Green, So., Grand Rapids, Minnesota (Grand Rapids)

Playing on a par-72 course sophomore Matt Schneider carded a 1-over 217, leading the Falcons to a third-place finish at the MAC Big East Challenge. Schneider was the top MAC finisher in the tournament.  He opened with a 3-under 69, and finished with a 73 and 75.  Only two golfers out of 55 finished under par.

 

Ben Wood, Miami, Jr., St. Louis, Mo. (Kirkwood)

Wood paced the RedHawks, tying for 17th place with rounds of 72-68-72 to finish at one-under par 212.

 

Stewart Jamieson, Ohio, So., Worthington, Ohio (Thomas Worthington)

For the third time in as many outings, Jamieson paced the Bobcat effort by recording an eight-over 224 to finish in a tie for 19th at the third annual Big East/MAC Challenge in Orlando.  His best round of the last event of the fall for the Bobcats was a 73 in Sunday's final 18 holes.
