Andrea Lehner - Buffalo

Western New York native Andrea Lehner returned home and made a big splash in her debut with the UB women’s team. Lehner, who swam at Maryland last season, took five individual events and was part of one of UB’s victorious relay squads. Lehner impressed in her first individual race, winning the 500-yard freestyle in 4:58.93, just one second off the UB school record set by Jennefer Brankovsky in 2004. Lehner also scored first place finishes in the two other distance freestyle races. In the 200-yard freestyle, she took first place in 1:56.24 and won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:15.36. Lehner also won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:08.25 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.43. The backstroke time was also a second off the UB school record. She also swam the opening leg of UB's victorious 200-yard medley relay to a time of 1:49.43.

Valerie McGowan ? Ball State

McGowan helped the Cardinals to a 143-85 victory over Eastern Illinois by sweeping honors in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. She managed a final of 230.46 in the 1-meter event and a 224.93 in the 3-meter.

Connor Vander Zalm - Buffalo
Sophomore ? Kelowna, British Columbia (Kelowna)
Vander Zalm won both distance freestyle races at the WNY Invitational over the weekend. Vander Zalm won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:48.85. He later scored a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:01.30. Vander Zalm also placed second overall in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:23.24.

Sophomore ? Elkhart, Ind. (Elkhart Memorial)
Battjes swam to first place finishes in the 50 free (21.68) and 100 free (49.17) vs. Eastern Illinois. He also was a member of the 200 free relay that took first with a time of 1:28.23. The Cardinals defeated EIU 139-94.
Derrick Roe ? Eastern Michigan
Junior ? Sidney, Ohio (Sidney HS)
Finished second in the 50 freestyle with a 21.08, fourth in the 100 freestyle with a 47.57 time, and was part of a 200 yard freestyle team that finished second with a time of 1:25.90 in competition at Michigan.
Chase Mortimer ? Miami
Senior ? Atlanta, Ga. (Woodward Academy)
Mortimer led Miami with 22 points earned in a 152-88 win over Evansville and earned six points in Miami’s 111-132 loss to Southern Illinois. Against Evansville, Chase earned first-pace finishes in the 200 Freestyle (1:46.93) and 500 Freestyle (4:58.83), along with a second place finish as a member of the 200 Freestyle Relay Team. Against SIU, Mortimer registered a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM and another second place finish as a member of Miami’s 400 Freestyle Relay.
