MAC Women’s Golfer Of The Week

Meredith Waterston, Ohio, Sr., Bloomington, Minn. (Academy of Holy Angels)

Tied for the individual lead after 36 holes on Monday, Waterston vied for her first career tournament victory, but came up just four strokes short. Waterson's total of 239 was good enough for second place among the 69 individuals that completed the wind-plagued Falcon Invitational, the best finish of her career.  Waterston's runner-up finish was the best by an Ohio golfer since Julie Tomlinson finished second at the Wachovia-Great Smokies Invitational on Oct. 1-2, 2005.

Other Nominees:

Carley Hrusovsky, Bowling Green, Jr., North Canton, Ohio (Hoover)

Hrusovsky finished in a tie for 13th at the 2007 Falcon Invitational with a 54 hole score of 255 (82-89-84). After round one she was in third with an 82 and was tied for eighth after posting an 89 for a 36 hole score of 171. On day one of competition the 72 competitors battled through below 40 temperatures and 20-30 mph winds throughout the day. Not one golfer broke 80 in the 144 rounds on day one. In her final round she carded an 84. Overall the Falcons finished seventh in the tournament.

Natalie Storck, Toledo, Sr., Auckland, New Zealand

Storck helped the Rockets captured their second tournament title of the season on Tuesday by finishing in fourth place at the Falcon Invitational. Toledo posted an 11-stroke victory over Marshall. The first 36 holes on Monday were played with temperatures in the high 30s and winds gusting to at least 30 mph. Tuesday’s final round was played in much better conditions with temperatures around 55 degrees and 5-10 mph winds. Storck posted a three-round total of 245 (86-83-76) for her third Top 10 finish of the season.
