Sophie Quist - Ball State

Freshman - Australia/Ascham School

Quist went undefeated last week after capturing a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Lilian Asuaje of Northern Illinois.  Quist also won at No. 1 doubles over Megan Brooks and Brook Forsberg by a score of 8-1.  Quist is now 3-3 in league play at the No. 1 spot.


Katrina Lomidze - Miami

Senior - Pompano Beach, FL/Ft. Lauderdale Prep

Lomidze picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Linda Jirouskova to capture an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles to help Miami to a 5-2 win against Northern Illinois as the RedHawks improved to 3-4 on the season and snap a two-match skid.




Stefanie Menoff  ? Bowling Green

Sophomore  - Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.

Menoff went 1-1 last week and won BGSU’s lone point in a 6-1 loss at Western Michigan.  She picked up a comeback victory over WMU’s Emily Dudzik at the sixth singles flight.  After losing the first set by a 6-4 score, Menoff came back for a 6-3 second-set win, then outlasted Dudzik for a 19-17 win in the third-set ?super tiebreaker. On the season, Menoff now has an eye-popping 22-2 singles record this season, and a career singles mark of 40-10 at BGSU.  She has won eight consecutive singles matches, and 12 of the last 13 singles contests.Menoff and Andrea Volle lost by an 8-4 count at the second doubles flight in Saturday’s match vs. the Broncos.


Katrin Fischer ? Buffalo

Senior - Ternitz, Austria/Borg

Fischer went undefeated in her singles (2-0) and doubles (2-0) matches over the weekend as the Bulls downed Toledo and Eastern Michigan. Fischer and doubles partner Tina Jacob scored 8-4 victories in the number three matches against their Toledo and EMU opponents. In singles play, Fischer, at number six, won both her matches in straight sets with 7-5 scores in the final set against Toledo’s Jessica Azoulay and EMU’s Laura Fernandez. Fischer improved her singles record to 16-4 this season, currently riding a seven-match winning streak and remained undefeated in MAC competition at 5-0. She is also 12-6 in doubles play and has won three straight with Jacob in the number three slot.


Yana Parfenyuk ? Eastern Michigan

Junior - Ominsk, Russia - School #64

Parfenyuk improved her Mid-American Conference singles record to 6-0 over this past weekend with wins over Amy Sherlock (Akron) 6-4, 6-4, and Natalie Dean (Buffalo) 5-7, 6-3, 6-1. Overall on the year she has posted 18 singles wins, including a current eight match winning streak.  In doubles action, she has teamed with Vanessa Frankowski in number one doubles to post a 4-2 MAC record.


Martina Wodzinski - Toledo

Freshman - Wayne, Ill./Bartlett

Wodzinski finished the weekend winning both of her singles matches and was 1-1 in doubles for an overall 3-1 record.  In her first match of the weekend against Buffalo she one of Toledo’s three winners defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-3.  The next day against Akron, Wodzinski played the toughest match of the afternoon winning 6-2, 7-6 (7).


Noriko Saruta ? Western Michigan

Junior - Yamaguchi, Japan/Shukugawa Gakuin

Saruta moved into the top 20 with 158 overall wins at Western Michigan in helping the Broncos win their 24th straight MAC regular season match with a 6-1 win over Bowling Green on Saturday.

Saruta and partner Ashley Moccia won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles in the first match off the court. Saruta then won her seventh singles match in a row with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jenna Nussbaum at No. 4 singles.

Saruta leads WMU with 23 singles wins this year, including a 19-4 mark in dual singles matches (6-0 in the MAC).
