MAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Anya Baronayte, Akron - Junior, St. Petersburg, Russia
Junior Anya Baronayte posted a 4-0 record (2-0 singles, 2-0 doubles) last weekend, to improve to 10-0 in dual-match singles and doubles play this season. Additionally, Baronayte helped Akron to its first 5-0 start since the 1991-92 campaign. The highlight of her play during the weekend came at Louisville on Saturday, when her three-set, last-match-on-court win at No. 5 singles lifted the Zips to a 4-3 win over the Cardinals. With the match tied at 3-3, Baronayte's hard-fought 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6), 6-1 win earned the deciding point for Akron, preserving its undefeated record and providing its first win over Louisville since 1992.

Hayley Hall, Ball State - Junior, Muncie, Ind. (Delta High School)
Junior Hayley Hall helped the Cardinals to a 1-1 overall record after winning both of her matches at No. 1 singles. Hall captured a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Kelly Drvaric last Saturday helping the Cardinals win the match, 7-0. Hall then repeated her winning ways after defeating Morehead State's Madeleinne Antero 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. Hall paired up with teammate Katherine Rist to win at No. 3 doubles versus the Panthers Saturday. Ball State improved to 4-2 over the weekend.
Denise Harijanto, Buffalo - Senior, Jakarta, Indonesia
Senior Denise Harijanto won her matches at both first doubles and first singles as the Bulls picked up their second dual meet win of the season against Cornell, 5-2. Harijanto teamed up with Aleksandra Petrova for an 8-4 win in doubles and then defeated her opponent in straight sets at first singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Megan Martzolf, Miami - Junior, Indianapolis, Ind.
Junior Megan Martzolf posted a 2-0 record in singles this week, with both matches coming at No. 3. Martzolf defeated Emily Mathis of West Virginia 6-3, 6-0 and picked up the team's only point at Marshall, defeating Dominika Zaprazna 6-1, 6-0. Martzolf was 1-1 in a No. 1 doubles pairing with Stephanie Danesis as the duo defeated West Virginia 8-1 before falling to Marshall by the same score.
Yumi Matsuto, Western Michigan - Senior, Kobeshi, Japan
Senior Yumi Matsuto went 4-0 to lead Western Michigan to a doubleheader sweep of Summit League preseason favorite IPFW, 6-1, and Valparaiso, 7-0. Matsuto teamed with sophomore Maria Nivia to win 8-3 at No. 3 doubles against the Mastodons and 8-0 at No. 2 doubles against the Crusaders. Matsuto actually didn't lose a game against Valparaiso as she cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Matsuto also won at No. 5 singles over IPFW with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
