MAC Announces Cross Country Runners of the Week

Women's Cross Country Co-Runners of the Week
Ari Fisher, Toledo, Junior            
Lebanon, Ohio (Lebanon)           
Richard Clark Invitational (Springfield, MO) --5k              
Time: 16:43.6    
Fisher set a new course record on her way to a first-place finish in a time of 16:43.58. Fisher beat out members of the national No. 4-ranked Texas Tech squad to continue to establish herself as one of the top distance runners in the country. Her record-setting performance led Toledo's top six runners to a second-place finish.

Rachel Patterson, Miami, Senior

All-Ohio Championship -- 5K     
Time: 17:12.3    
Patterson shattered the course record at the All-Ohio Championship, hosted by Cedarville, Friday to win the individual title and also help Miami win the team title. She finished first in 17:12.3, seven seconds ahead of Maura Bulgrin of Dayton, who was the runner-up, while smashing the course record of 17:24 set at last year's meet by Ohio State's Sarah Foster. The senior has now led Miami in all three races she's ran this year while earning her second individual title of the season (Flyer 5K Challenge). She was also just two seconds off her personal-best time, which is the 5K school record.

MAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Ridge Robinson, Ohio, Senior

All-Ohio Invitational -- 8K

Ohio senior Ridge Robinson finished third in the prestigious All-Ohio Invitational Friday, the highest finish of any MAC runner in a meet that also featured Miami, Toledo, Akron and Bowling Green. Robinson helped power the Bobcats to a third-place team finish in a meet that also included Dayton, Cincinnati and Xavier.

Notre Dame Invitational  -- 5K  
Time: 17:48        
Bishel placed third overall in the Notre Dame 5K Gold race with a time of 17:48, just off her season-fast pace of 17:44 set two weeks ago at the Indiana Intercollegiates (Sept. 17). She was the top MAC runner in the race, as three other league schools were represented.

Abby Koch, Bowling Green, Sophomore

All-Ohio Championships --  5K
Time: 18:35.1    
Sophomore Abby Koch ran the 5K at the 2010 All-Ohio Championships in 0:18:35.1, which represents her second-best time in the 5K in her two seasons as a Falcon.  Koch placed 40th overall and 30th among all Division I runners at the All-Ohio meet.

Notre Dame Invitational (Gold Division) -- 5K   
Time: 18:29        
Sanders led UB's finishers with a 20th-place showing among 161 entrants in just her second meet of the year. The Bulls placed 12th among 19 women's teams at the Notre Dame Invitational.

Adidas Invitational -- 6K              
Time: 20:31        
Sophomore Courtney Calka paced EMU for the third straight race this season. The Eagles competed in the competitive Adidas Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin, which featured six top-30 nationally ranked teams. Calka finished 10th in a field of 202 athletes, crossing the finish line at 20:31. She also finished ahead of six of Syracuse University's runners, who as a team finished first at the invite.

Lehigh-Brooks Paul Short Run  -- 6K       
Time: 22:12        
Lizarribar finished 103rd overall to lead the Kent State women's team to a 26th-place finish with 680 points. The Golden Flashes will take part in the Pre National Meet Oct. 16 in Terre Haute, Ind. -- site of the 2010 NCAA Championships.

Annie Beecham, Ohio, Senior

All-Ohio Invitational -- 5K           
Time: 17:21.5    
Ohio senior Annie Beecham finished third overall in the All-Ohio Invitational, the highest finish of any MAC runner in a meet that also included Miami, Toledo, Akron and Bowling Green. Beecham led the Bobcats to a third-place finish in the team competition and finished eight seconds ahead of teammate Kari Summers, who finished fourth.

Senior Chris Moody placed 45th overall (30th among Division I runners) at the 2010 All-Ohio Championships.  His time of 0:25:43.2 led all BGSU runners at the event.

Conway finished 21st of 137 at the Notre Dame Invitational as UB's top finisher, leading the Bulls to a fifth-place team finish. 

Terefe Ejigu, Eastern Michigan, Sophomore       
Mount Cook, Wellington-Wellington College, New Zealand         
Notre Dame Invitational  - 8K      
Time: 24:52:00  
Terefe Ejugu led the Eagles for the second consecutive week, as his second place time of 24:52 also marked a 47 second improvement from his 2009 finish time (25:39) at the invite last season. His efforts helped the Eagles to their third straight first place finish this year, the best start the Green and White have seen since the 1997 season.

Hilditch was the top finisher on the men's side for the Golden Flashes, taking 41st place as KSU finished tied for 25th with 677 points. The Golden Flashes will take part in the Pre National Meet Oct. 16 in Terre Haute, Ind. -- site of the 2010 NCAA Championships.

Robbie Fisher, Miami, Senior
Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. (Grosse Pointe North )      
All-Ohio Championship - 8K        
Time: 24:54.5    
Fisher led Miami to the team title at the All-Ohio Championship Friday, hosted by Cedarville, as he was the top RedHawk finisher, claiming 12th place in a personal-best time of 24:54.5. Fisher improved his personal-best time by over 15 seconds (previous best was 25:11). He was also Miami's top finisher for the first time in his career, despite being knocked down early in the race in a field of 263 runners.

Jon DeWitt, Toledo, Junior

All-Ohio Championships -- 8K    
Time: 24:48.1    
DeWitt paced the Rocket runners for the second straight week, after earning MAC Cross Country Runner of the Week honor last week for his performance in the Roy Griak Invite. DeWitt took tenth place overall with a time of 24:48.10 and led his team to an eighth-place finish in a field featuring some of the top schools in the state.
