MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Angelina Jogasuria, Akron - Freshman, Serpong, Indonesia

Freshman Angelina Jogasuria posted a 4-0 combined record, 2-0 in singles, 2-0 in doubles, last week to improve herself to 16-1 at No. 2 singles and 15-2 in dual-match doubles play this season. Angelina teamed with her identical twin sister, Angelika, to score an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles versus Ball State on Friday and an 8-3 victory at No. 2 over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. In singles play against Ball State, she cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 and earned a three-set decision at No. 2 over Miami, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. Akron's win over Ball State gave it a program single-season record fifth conference win.

Christine Chiricosta, Bowling Green - Junior, Avon Lake, Ohio (Avon Lake High School)

Junior Christine Chiricosta won both of her matches as the Falcons downed Northern Illinois, 5-2, in the team's lone action of the week.  Chiricosta teamed with Maddy Eccleston for an 8-5 win at the top doubles flight as the duo won six-straight games to close out the match.  Chiricosta then defeated Northern Illinois' Kathryn Friedlund in short order, losing just one total game (6-0, 6-1) in their top-flight match.  On the year, she is now a team-leading 22-6 in singles, including a 15-4 record in duals and has teamed with Eccleston to go 15-4 in dual-match doubles.  Chiricosta leads the Falcons with a 35-12 overall record this season, has won eight of her last nine singles matches, and also has won eight of her last nine doubles contests.  As a junior, she has already tied for 13th on the Bowling Green career wins list with 127 combined victories, has 64 singles wins to tie for 14th in school annals and 63 doubles victories, is tied for 12th on that chart.

Diana Toia, Buffalo - Senior, Rochester, N.Y.

Senior Diana Toia went a perfect 4-0 this past weekend as she won both of her matches at third doubles and then won both singles matches at fourth singles in straight sets.  Toia, who was playing in her final home weekend, is undefeated in conference play at third doubles with partner Diana Popescu.  In singles, Toia used a 6-3, 6-4 win on Friday to pick up her first conference win at fourth singles and followed that up with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ball State.

Jessica Azoulay, Toledo - Senior, Paris, France

Senior Jessica Azoulay played in her first singles match in a month and lifted Toledo to a 4-3 win over Eastern Michigan.  Azoulay was inserted into the lineup at the No. 6 position and was the last match on the court to finish with the score knotted at three against Eastern Michigan. She rallied after dropping the first set to take a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory and lift UT to the 4-3 win.

Emily Dudzik, Western Michigan - Senior, Gowen, Mich. (Greenville High School)

Senior Emily Dudzik swept both of her matches at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead Western Michigan to its third shutout of the season and second in MAC play over Northern Illinois, 7-0, on Senior Day for the Broncos. Dudzik was the first player off the court in both singles and doubles at the most competitive position with an 8-2 win with freshman Jill Pastunink over Brooke Forsberg and Emily Rogers in doubles and 6-3, 6-2 win over Kathryn Friedlund at the top singles spot. Dudzik moved into 20th in Western Michigan history with her 162nd and 163rd career wins.
