MAC Announces Gymnast and Specialist of the Week

Gymnast of the Week
Nikole Viltz, Eastern Michigan
Senior, Hawthorn Woods, Ill. (Carmel)
Senior Nikole Viltz (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Carmel) led the Eagles in the win, finishing first on the vault recording a career best 9.875 and tying for first on the balance beam posting a 9.550. Viltz also earned a 9.200 for her performance on the floor exercise.

Specialist of the Week
Rachel Goldenberg, Kent State
Junior, Doylestown, Pa. (Central Bucks West)
Goldenberg tied for first on the vault with a career-high score of 9.900 to help Kent State defeat Northern Illinois, 194.800-192.875, Sunday (Feb. 20). The Golden Flashes host their annual 'Flip For The Cure' meet against Western Michigan on Feb. 27.

Nicole Allen, Ball State
Sophomore, Buford, Ga. (Hebron Christian Academy)
Nicole Allen won the all-around competition in Ball State's win at Bowling Green with a 38.725 score. At Bowling Green, Allen won the vault with a 9.825 and finished second on the beam with a 9.675. In addition, Allen finished fourth in the all-around in the Cardinals meet at Illinois State. At ISU, Allen won the vault with a 9.800 score, marking her fifth victory in that event this season. She placed second on the beam with a 9.850.

Kayla Kmiecik, Ball State
Junior, Avon, Ohio (Magnificat)
Kayla Kmiecik placed second on the bars with a 9.65, while helping Ball State tallied a Mid-American Conference victory over Bowling Green.

Kasey Fillmore, Bowling Green
Senior, Danileson, Conn. (Killingly)
Kasey Fillmore finished third in the all-around with a season-best 38.150. The senior scored a 9.575 on vault, 9.375 on bars, 9.550 on beam and 9.650 on the floor exercise.

Danielle Wishart, Bowling Green
Sophomore, Bethesda, Md. (Holy Cross)
Danielle Wishart finished second on the vault and fifth on the balance beam versus Ball State on Sunday afternoon. The sophomore scored a 9.750 on vault and 9.550 on beam.

Meaghan McWhorter, Central Michigan
RS Freshman, Grand Ledge, Mich. (Grand Ledge)
McWhorter won vault for the second straight week with an 9.800 as CMU won at Western Michigan to take sole possession of first place in the MAC.

Brittany Petzold, Central Michigan
Freshman, Shelby Township, Mich. (Eisenhower)
Petzold led CMU to a victory in the battle for first place in the MAC against Western Michigan. Petzold won the all-around (39.050) and bars (9.825), took second on beam (9.775) and finished third on vault (9.750). Her score on beam is a career-high.

Stacie Wood, Eastern Michigan
Junior, Brantford, Ont. (Brantford Collegiate Institute)
Junior Stacie Wood (Brantford, Ont.-Brantford Collegiate Inst.) had a strong showing finishing tied for first earning a 9.675 on the uneven parallel bars and tied for third with fellow freshman Shawna Ciaramella on the balance beam with a 9.525.

Christina Lenny, Kent State
Senior, Broadview Heights, Ohio (Brecksville-Broadview Heights)
Lenny won the all-around crown with a combined point total of 39.275 to help Kent State down Northern Illinois, 194.800-192.875, Sunday (Feb. 20). She won the floor exercise with a 9.850, tied for first place on the vault a 9.900 and placed second on the uneven bars with a 9.800. The Golden Flashes host their annual 'Flip For The Cure' meet against Western Michigan on Feb. 27.

Ashley Guerra, Northern Illinois
Junior, Orland Park, Ill. (Carl Sandburg)
Guerra notched her best scores of the season on both uneven bars and balance beam Sunday in the Huskies' meet versus Kent State. Guerra's efforts helped NIU to its best team score of the season. Her 9.775 on bars was the best score by an NIU gymnast on that event this season.

Holly Reichard, Northern Illinois
Senior, Palatine, Ill. (Fremd)
Reichard earned her season best scores on all five of her events this weekend as the Huskies posted their highest team total score of the season. Reichard's all-around total of 39.025 was her highest score since the 2009 season. She was NIU's top finisher on vault and balance beam as she had her highest vault score since 2009 with a 9.750. Her 9.800 on balance beam was the highest score on any event by a Huskie gymnast this year.
