Troy Esentan, Eastern Michigan

Esentan helped the Eagles win their 58th consecutive Mid-American Conference dual-meet against Buffalo this past Saturday, Jan. 22. when he placed first in both the 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle. His time of 57.24 in the 100 breast marks the top time in the MAC as well as a personal best for Esentan. In the 500 free, he finished the distance in 4:36.76 for the second best conference mark as well as a team and personal season best time. Esentan also went on to take third in the 400 individual medley in 4:04.91 to post the seventh best performance for the MAC in that event.

Against Eastern Michigan, Matt Hogan won two individual events for the UB men, setting season-bests in both wins and was part of both winning relays. In the 200-yard freestyle, he finished in 1:40.94 and came back later to take the 100-yard freestyle in 45.66. UB also swept the men's relay races, setting season-bests in both races. Phil Aronica, Hogan, Matt Schwippert and Jared Heine won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:31.20. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Aronica, Mike Dugan, Heine and Hogan posted a season-best 3:03.79.

Nick Carter, Missouri State

Reigning Missouri State Swimmer of the Year, Nick Carter, stepped up to lead the Bears against rival Drury. Drury is the two-time NCAA DII national champion and has a squad featuring numerous Olympians. Despite this competition, Carter placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.00 and helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 1:24.44. His personal split was 20.75. The Bears also competed at the Lindenwood Duals two days later. In this meet, Carter lead the 400-yard medley relay (3:29.90), 400-yard freestyle relay (3:11.59)and 800-yard freestyle relay (7:05.19) teams to first-place finishes. Carter is the 2010 MAC Champion in the 200-yard butterfly and owns the current top time in the conference in the 200-yard freestyle.

Justin Ruszkowski, Southern Illinois

Ruskzowski swept both the one and three-meter diving events in SIU's conference win over Ball State last weekend. He posted NCAA Zone qualifying marks in both events, taking first in the one-meter at 302.70 and the three-meter at 339.53.
