Kent State’s Gymnastics team earned its first top 25 ranking of the season as the Golden Flashes are tied with the Kentucky Wildcats at #24 on the current (3/2) NCAA Division I Gymnastics team rankings.
The Flashes and Wildcats have identical RQS scores of 194.590. In the individual event team rankings, the Golden Flashes are tied for 21st with Washington on vault (RQS-48.841), and with Ohio State on floor exercises (RQS-48.678), rank 28th on bars (RQS-48.281), and 31st on beam (RQS-48.116).
Regionally, KSU is tied for fifth in the overall rankings and stands fifth on vault and floor, sixth on beam, and eighth on bars.
Kent State leads the Mid-American Conference team rankings in the overall standings as well as on vault, beam, and floor.
The Golden Flashes are first in the MAC with a perfect 4-0 mark. KSU’s 196.025 to 194.075 over visiting Southeast Missouri State on Friday (2/27) evening at the M.A.C. Center extended the Flashes’ unbeaten home meet winning streak to 10 and raised KSU’s record at home over the last six seasons to 30-3.
In addition, the victory over the Redhawks was Head Coach Brice Biggin’s 150th career win at Kent State.
The Golden Flashes (9-3 overall, 4-0 MAC) travel to Ypsilanti, Michigan on Saturday (3/7) for a quad meet with host Eastern Michigan University, Central Michigan University, and the University of Missouri.
