FISHERS, IN - Kent State increased its lead to 10 strokes following Saturday's second round of the 2010 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship. The Golden Flashes shot a seven-over par 295 today giving them a two-day total of 16-over par 592. KSU is looking to capture its 12th straight MAC Championship and remain the only school that has won the conference's women's golf title.
Eastern Michigan is in second place at 26-over par 602 and finished just one shot behind KSU in today's action with an eight-over par 296. Rounding out the top five are Ball State (605), Western Michigan (607) and Toledo (610).
Eastern Michigan junior Robyn Scott sits alone atop the individual leaderboard with an even-par 144 (74-70). The Golden Flashes' Martina Gavier (72-73) and the Cardinals' Rachael Pruett (72-73) are one stroke back at one-over par 145.
Scott opened her round on fire with birdies on No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, but followed that with bogeys on No. 5 and No. 6. She then was one-under over the next nine holes with a birdie on No. 10 before closing out with a bogey on No. 16 and a birdie on No. 18.
Sunday's third and final round begins with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Toledo at the par-72, 6,037-yard Hawthorns Golf & Country Club.
