In a 12-team field that featured seven the nation's top 50 teams, junior Brett Cairns led No. 44 Kent State with a three-over 219 (78-70-71) at the General Hacker Championship in South Carolina. Cairns' tied for seventh in the 71-man field as he earned his eighth career top 10 finish. The Ontario native shot a second 70 as he posted the second lowest round in the field in round two. The score bumped him up 17 spots on the leader board into a tie for 12th overall. n Monday's final round he carded just one of four sub-par round on the day by the field as he used three consecutive birdies on holes 18, 1 and 2 that propelled him to a one-under 71 and a three-over 219 (78-70-71) for the tournament.

Dick was among the top-ten finishers for the third time this 2009-10 season, when he finished the Pinehurst Invitational in a tie for eighth place, out 83 competitors. Dick paced the Huskies with a total score of 220 (73, 74, 73, +4), helping NIU to an eighth place spot in the 15-team tournament.

Whiting fired a season-low one-under par 71 in Tuesday's final round to help Toledo post a ninth-place showing at UCF's Rio Pinar Invitational. Whiting tied for 27th place in the event with a seven-over par 223 (74-78-71). The Rockets finished with a 26-over par 890, just three strokes out of sixth place and ahead of Mid-American Conference foes Miami (Ohio) and Akron.
