Cleveland, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference announced today its 2009 Men’s Golf Academic All-MAC team. The five-member team was voted on by the league’s Faculty Athletic Representatives from among a list of student-athletes who have excelled in athletic and academics.
Northern Illinois led this year’s squad with two selections as juniors Tim Kay and Andrew Frame represented the Huskies. Kent State’s John Hahn was also named to this year’s Academic All-MAC team following a season where he was also selected as an All-MAC First Team and All-Tournament Team selection.
Eastern Michigan’s Nick Carbury and Toledo’s Jean-Hubert Trahan rounded out this year’s selections. Carbury was also selected to this year’s All-Tournament Team.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
