Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Riak Mabil, Central Michigan

Doug Raymond Invitational

12. 5000m; 15:02.12

Won the 5000m at the Doug Raymond Invitational after turning in a time of 15:02.12. Beat out a field of 14 competitors in his first race of 2009.


Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Oz Lifshitz, Central Michigan

Doug Raymond Invitational

Triple Jump; 49-2 1/2; First

Won the triple jump for the second consecutive meet. Topped a field of 15 competitors.


Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Victoria Chatman, Western Michigan

Notre Dame Invitational

500 meter dash - 1st place - 1:14.21 4x400 meter relay - 1st place - 3:54.79       

Chatman fell short of the school record in the 500 meter dash by one second Chatman was part of a Bronco squad that took first, second and third place in the 500 meter dash. She also led off the 4x400 meter relay team that beat second place DePaul by over 10 seconds.


Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Irene Cooper, Western Michigan       

Notre Dame Invitational

Weight Throw - 1st place - 64-06 Shot Put - 2nd place - 41-06.50 

Cooper's distance in the weight throw beat the NCAA provisional qualifying mark and beat the previous mark she set at the EMU Invite. Beat Notre Dame's Ana Weber, who has also thrown a NCAA provisional distance. Western Michigan has competed in two meets so far this season and Irene Cooper has won the weight throw in both.
