MAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

R.P. White, Eastern Michigan, Senior, Hillsdale, Mich. (Hillsdale)      

Michigan Intercollegiate (8K)

Time: 25:57:00           

White led the Eagles for the first time in his career, finishing sixth on his way to running 25:57 for the 8K, leading the Eagles to a first-place finish amongst Division I schools and second overall.


MAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Kari Summers, Ohio, Junior, Troy, Ohio          

All-Ohio Championships (5K)  

Time: 18:01.4 

Summers turned in another strong performance for the Bobcats, finishing second at the All-Ohio Championships to help Ohio to a fourth-place team finish, just four points behind Bowling Green, the top MAC team in the meet. Summers has not finished worse than third in four meets this season.

Other Men’s Nominees

Aiman Scullion, Kent State, Sophomore, Salem, Ohio (Salem)          

All-Ohio Championships (5 miles)       

Time: 26:02.1 

Scullion, competing in his first meet of the 2008 season, finished ninth overall at the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio with a time of 26:02.1 on Friday (10/10).


Shamus Eaton, Ohio, Senior, Uniontown, Ohio           

All-Ohio Championships (8K)  

Time: 25:57.2 

Senior Shamus Eaton finished 12th at the All-Ohio Championships to lead the Bobcats to a fifth-place finish out of 42 teams.


Elisa Kipchumba, Toledo, Sophomore, Nairobi, Kenya

All-Ohio Championship (8K)

Time: 26:34.7

Kipchumba was the top Rocket finisher for the second-consecutive meet.


Other Women’s Nominees

Larisa Arcip, Akron, Junior, Spiru Haret University   

All-Ohio Championships (5K)

Time: 18:17.7 

Arcip finished 7th overall in a field of 288 participants while helping the Akron women to an 8th place finish at the All-Ohio Championships.


Rachel Hollinger-Janzen, Eastern Michigan, Freshman, Goshen, Ind. (Goshen)        

Michigan Intercollegiate (5K)

Time: 19:20    

Hollinger-Janzen led the Eagles for the second time this season as a freshman, finishing 11th overall on her way to running 19:20 for the 5K. Her place led the Eagles to a second place team finish amongst Division I institutions and third overall, the best this season.


Kassandra Meholick, Kent State, Sophomore, New Cumberland, Pa. (Cedar Cliff)   

All-Ohio Championships (3 miles)       

Time: 18:47.6 

Meholick placed 11th overall with a time of 18:47.6 at the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio on Friday (10/10).


Sarah Neubacher, Toledo, Sophomore, Ft. Wayne, IN (Concordia Lutheran)           

All-Ohio Championship (5K)    

Time: 19:34.6 

Neubacher finished first for the Midnight Blue and Gold. It was her fastest time of the season and marked her debut as the first-place UT finisher.


Brittni Hutton, Western Michigan, Freshman, Royal Oak, Mich. (Milford)     

Michigan Intercollegiates (5k)           

Time: 19:14    

Hutton was the top Division I finisher at the Michigan Intercollegiates and helped the Broncos to finish first among Division I schools and second overall. It was also the second straight week that Hutton was the top finisher for Western Michigan. The event was a homecoming for Hutton, who had run the Kensington Park track while competing for Milford High School.
