Cleveland, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference announced today its 2008 Men’s Golf Academic All-MAC team. The six-member team was voted on by the league’s Faculty Athletic Representatives from among a list of student-athletes who have excelled in athletic and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Ciaran McAleavy of Toledo, Graham Hill of Eastern Michigan and Colin Clemente of Akron were named to this year’s academic squad after being selected to the All-MAC First Team. McAleavy and Clemente were also named to this year’s All-Tournament Team, while this mark’s the second consecutive season that Hill has be placed on the Academic All-MAC team.
Zach Jecklin of Northern Illinois was named to the team for the third consecutive season, while Kent State’s Tom Ballinger and Ball State’s Ross Cosat round out this year’s squad.
