MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Kylie Gamelier - Toledo

Junior - Cranberry Twp, Pa. (Seneca Valley HS)

Broke two school records, the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. In the 100, Gamelier broke her own record with a time of 1:04.61 then in the 200 she broke former Rocket Iiris Hilvo's three-year record with a time of 2:18.70. She also came in third place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.53. In the 400 medley relay the team of herself, Meghan Reissig, Shannon Hazelton and Leah Woodard came in first with a time of 3:53.31.

Katie Carter ? Akron

Junior - Euclid, Ohio (Euclid HS)

Katie Carter swept the diving portion in Akron's win against Marshall University Saturday. She won the 1-meter posting a score of 277.43 and the 3-meter posting 315.30. Carter has claimed each event five times so far this season.  


Stephanie Paul ? Ball State

Senior - Mishawaka, Ind. (Mishawaka HS)

Paul helped the Cardinals defeat IUPUI, Western Illinois and St. Louis on Friday, Jan. 11.  Paul took first place honors in the 1-meter dive with a score of 265.55.  She also was crowned the 3-meter diving champion with a 264.55.



Sam Palma   - Buffalo

Sophomore -  Lancaster, N.Y. (Lancaster HS)

Palma won two races against MAC rival Toledo. She led wire to wire in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the race in 53.59 and holding off Toledo's Ashley Cusack who finished second by three-hundredths of a second (53.62). Palma also rolled to a victory in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the race in 57.63.


Madeleine Pilchard ? Eastern Michigan

Senior - Marietta, Ga. (Walton HS)

Helped EMU to a 193-107 win over Oakland...Finished first in the 50 freestyle with  time of 23.83 time...Took the 200 free in 1:52.33...Also finished first in the 500 free (4:58.90)...Was part of first place 400 freestyle relay team (3:29.98).


Chelsey Bower ? Ohio

Sophomore - Bethel Park, Pa.

Ohio sophomore Chelsey Bower won five events in five attempts, setting a season-best and lifetime best, to lead the Bobcats to victories against Denison and Youngstown State over the weekend. Bower touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle with a new season-best time of 24.43 on Friday, and then almost set a new mark on Saturday, touching the wall first in the 50 free with a time of 24.44. Bower established a new lifetime best in the 500-yard freestyle against Youngstown State, placing first with a time of 5:10.36. Along with her three individual wins, Bower also was part of two first place relay teams against Denison. Bower swam the anchor leg of Ohio’s first-place 200-yard medley relay team (1:47.76) and was the second leg of Ohio’s first-place 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:39.38).
