Co-Gymnast of the Week:
Sophomore ● Bristol, Wis./Westosha HS
Simon became the first MAC gymnast this season to record a plus-39 in the all-around as the sophomore finished with a 39.025. That was second overall in the meet behind Michigan All-American Lindsey Bruck (39.375). Simon was CMUâ??s top performer on vault (9.775) and beam (a career-high 9.825) while tying with Andrea de la Garza for first on floor (9.700). Simon was fourth overall on beam, eighth on floor and 11th on vault.
Freshman ● Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights
For the fourth consecutive meet this season, Lenny was the event champion on vault. Her personal best score of 9.875 also ties her for the tenth best vault score in KSU gymnastics history. Lenny’s personal best of 9.750 on beam put her in a third place tie with senior teammates Kristin Peters (Maineville, Ohio/ Kings) and Amy Presan (Scottsdale, Ariz./ Horizon). On floor, Lenny received a personal best of 9.875 for her routine and finished second. Lenny continues to lead the Mid-American Conference and is sixth in the Central Regional with an average score of 9.812 on vault. She is also fourth on beam and floor with average scores of 9.725 and 9.758 respectively. Lenny’s score of 9.875 is the best individual meet performances on vault and floor in the MAC this season.
Breanne Guy, Bowling Green
Her all-around score is her third best on the season. Her score of a 9.625 is her second highest score on bars this season, and her 9.7 is also her second highest on the floor this season.
Holly Reichard, Northern Illinois
Claimed three first place finishes and scored a season-best 38.825 in the all-around, the third-highest total in the MAC this year. Stepped up when NIU top all-arounder Leah Johnson went down during warm-ups to lead NIU to the win and a 192.400 total. Recorded her season and career-best marks in the vault, floor exercise and all-around. Her vault score was the highest on the NIU team this year and is tied for fourth-best in the MAC.
Specialist of the Week:
Senior ● Maineville, Ohio/ Kings
Senior Kristin Peters (Maineville, Ohio/ Kings) recorded a score of 9.825 on bars to win the event for the second consecutive week. She finished tied for third with two Kent State teammates with a 9.750 on vault and recorded a season-high score of 9.775 to finish fourth. Peters continues to lead the Mid-American Conference with an average score of 9.794 on bars. Her score of 9.850 at Pittsburgh (1/11) is still the best MAC individual meet performance on bars this season.
Jacquelyn Bernhardt, Bowling Green
With Berhnardt's score of 9.725 on floor she now has a new season high, which surpasses her old one of 9.625. She also helped her team on vault post their highest team vault score on the season.
Jennifer Naughton, Northern Illinois
Naughton posted two first place finishes in NIU's win over Ball State Sunday. Every score was critical as the Huskies competed without top all-arounder Leah Johnson, who was injured during warm-ups. Naughton recorded season-best beam (9.825) and tied her season-high on the floor (9.800). Her beam score is tied for the top mark in the MAC this year.
Vanessa Rodriguez, Central Michigan
Rodriguez just missed a career-high on bars at the State of Michigan Classic against MAC competition Western Michigan, and Eastern Michigan finishing second overall to Michigan All-American Lindsey Bruck with a 9.825. Rodriguez's mark is the second-best score in the MAC this season and the top score by a CMU gymnast this year.
