MOUNT PLEASANT - After scoring over 195 points in consecutive weeks and knocking off its second ranked foe of the season, the Central Michigan gymnastics team finds itself ranked 23rd in this week's GymInfo national top 25 rankings.
The rankings are compiled using each team's Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). CMU sports an RQS of 194.665.
"It is really exciting for our team," head coach Jerry Reighard said. "We really embraced this as the next step in what we needed to do as a program. The excitement from beating Arizona State is carrying forward. The enthusiasm to get back in the gym, work hard and possibly move up the ladder even more is something that all our gymnasts are dedicated to do."
It is the first time the Chippewas have been ranked in the middle of a season since 2005. The Maroon and Gold ended the 2009 campaign ranked 23rd.
Central returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Ball State in the final event in Rose Center.
