MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.  - The Central Michigan Chippewas (3-8, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) lost to the Ball State Cardinals (5-6, 2-3 MAC) at the CMU Field Hockey Complex on Friday in overtime by a score of 3-2.

Junior midfielder Devanny Kuhn scored two goals within one minute and 18 seconds of game time at the end of regulation and the start of overtime to win the game for the Cardinals.

Ball State started the scoring off 12 minutes and 35 seconds into the game when junior forward Kristen Falk scored, with an assist from junior midfielder Gretchen Lulow.

The Chippewas evened the score seven minutes after halftime, when sophomore midfielder Erin Dye scored an unassisted goal.

CMU scored its second goal of the game with just under two minutes to go in regulation when sophomore back Brittany Burga scored her first goal of the season. Junior forward Paulina Lee had an assist on the play.

CMU outshot BSU, 15-5, and put more shots on goal, 6-4. The Chippewas also held the edge in penalty corners, 11-1.

ATHENS, Ohio - The field hockey Bears suffered their second straight 3-0 loss, this time at the hands of the defending Mid-American Conference champion Ohio Bobcats, Saturday in Athens.

Coming off a loss at Miami (Ohio), the Bears (3-9, 0-3) could not beat the goalkeeping of Courtney Seiders, who leads the conference in save percentage at .770. All four MSU shots on goal went begging, while the Bobcats (8-7, 4-1) were able to convert on their opportunities.

Ohio's Paige Herr opened the scoring with a goal in the 29th minute and the teams went to the half 1-0. The Bobcats then played add-on almost immediately after intermission, when Brittany Zorn scored in the 38th minute after putting away a loose ball during a scramble in front of the net to make it 2-0.

Katherine Ballard's goal in the 61st minute capped the scoring and gave the Bobcats their 3-0 victory margin.

Andrea Bain (Fr., Victoria, B.C., Canada) had eight saves in her third career start after earning MAC Defensive Player of the Week last week. Casey Bayliss (Jr., Bathurst, NSW, Australia) led the way with two shots on goal, while Amanda Miyashita (Sr., Richmond, B.C., Canada) and Kristi O'Connor (So., Fort Worth, Texas) had one apiece.

The Bears conclude their final road trip of the season Sunday at Kent State. The Bears close the 2010 campaign with six straight home games. Start time against the Golden Flashes is set for 11 a.m.
