MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week
Troy Esentan, Eastern Michigan
Junior, North Little Rock, Ark. (Central)
The junior posted three top-ten Mid-American Conference times this past Friday, Feb. 4 when the Eagles faced the No. 11 ranked Ohio State University Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio. The Arkansas native was second in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and also runner up in the 400 IM. His time of 58.11 in the 100 breast is the fourth fastest performance in the MAC. Esentan recorded the sixth best time in the 200 after completing the distance in 2:06.76, and he touched the wall in the 400 IM at 4:07.44 for the eighth best performance in the MAC.

Jared Heine, Buffalo

In the Penn State meet, Jared Heine won the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best 1:42.12, holding off Penn State's Scott Marino, who finished second in 1:42.24. Heine also scored a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.48. Heine also anchored the 200-yard free relay to a first-place finish as the foursome of Simon Proudfoot, Mike Dugan, Ryan Smrekar and Heine touched the wall in 1:24.56. Against St. Bonaventure, Heine won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.01 and anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay to a 1:30.91 finish.

John Eick, Miami

In the  final home meet of his career, John Eick (Auburn, Alabama) of Miami University saved his best for last by winning the 50-yard freestyle event in a time of 21.79. The very first victory of Eick's career helped the RedHawks defeat Ball State, 132-104, and improve their overall record to 4-5-1. Eick is a senior captain and a Harrison Scholar who has a cumulative career grade-point average of 3.86. A Harrison scholarship is the University's most prestigious award.

Justin Ruszkowski, Southern Illinois
Junior, Normal, Ill. (Normal Community West)
Ruszkowski swept both diving events in SIU's 157-68 win over MAC foe Evansville last Saturday. He posted NCAA zone qualifying scores in the 3-meter (320.25) and the 1-meter (311.55), a new season-best. Ruszkowski has taken first place a total of 12 times in dual meets this season for the Salukis.
