MAC Announces Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

MEN’S TRACK

Ackeem Forde ? Eastern Michigan

Junior - Haynesville, Barbados- Cambridge & Parry

Forde picked up three wins for the Eagles at the meet, winning the 200 and 400-meter dashes and as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team. He was also a part of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished second.

 

MEN’S FIELD

Daniel Kinsey ? Akron

Junior - East Liverpool, Ohio (Beaver Local HS)

Competed in the 82nd Annual Clyde LIttlefield Texas Relays, annually one of the top events in the nation. Placed second in the decathlon (top Division I finisher), breaking a 10-year old school record with 7,385 points. Previous record was 7.233 pts. In addition to setting a UA record, Kinsey provisionally qualifies for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Kinsey has the second-best decathlon point total in the NCAA. While setting a UA record, Kinsey posted personal-record times/marks in eight of the 10 events.

Justin Craddock ? Buffalo

Sophomore - Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East

Craddock turned in a season-best time of 1:53.21 in the 800-meters at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, VA, running in the slower heat. The meet was held under very windy conditions. 800m; 1:53.21; 6th of 64.

  

Justinn Eddie ? Miami

Sophomore - Cleveland, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph

Southern Ohio Cup ... 200 (3rd -- 21.87), 400 (1st -- 48.97), 4x400 (2nd -- 3:19.27) ... His 400 time was fourth-best in the MAC this year.

Jake Madonia ? Buffalo

Junior - Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy

Madonia was UB's top men's performer at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, VA competing in very windy conditions. Shot put; 16.06m; 2nd, and  Discus; 46.35m; 2nd.

 

Greg Pilling ? Central Michigan

Junior - London, Ont./Sir Frederick Banting SS

Became a regional qualifier in both the hammer throw (192-3) and discus (172-0), winning both events in a dual meet versus Eastern Michigan.

 

Andrew Meyer ? Eastern Michigan

Sophomore - Minster, Ohio-Minster

Meyer set personal-bests in the shot put and the hammer throw at the EMU/CMU dual, finishing third in the hammer with a throw 164-04 and part of a 1-2-3 shot put sweep, finishing third with a toss of 50-04.75. He also placed fifth in the discus  at 132-03.

 

Matt Pfleger ? Kent State

Junior - Garrettsville, Ohio/James A. Garfield

Pfleger had the top mark for the collegiate competitors in the men’s hammer throw with a career-best toss and NCAA Regional Qualifying mark of 202’-11“ at the Duke Invitational (4/4). That mark is the best in the Mid-American Conference in the 2009 Outdoor Track and Field season. Pfleger’s toss ranks 10th on the Golden Flashes all-time list.

 

John Brockmann ? Miami

Freshman - Granville, Ohio/Granville

Southern Ohio Cup ... Javelin (1st --  55.82m/183-02) ... Has the top two throws in the MAC this year... this week's effort was just under six feet shorter than at South Florida... was declared the champion at that meet late last week after a transposition error was detected for another competitor. The distance was entered into the computer wrong.
