MAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week (two honorees)

Stefanie Menoff ? Bowling Green

Senior - Naperville, Ill. (Neuqua Valley)

Was a perfect 4-0, tying a school record in the process, as the Falcons won a pair of dual matches over the weekend ... won at both singles and doubles in BG's wins over Toledo and Eastern Michigan ... her singles win vs. EMU on Saturday was her 79th as a Falcon, tying the school career record ... that victory also gave the Falcons their fourth point of the day, clinching the win over the Eagles ... teamed with fellow senior Libby Harrison for wins at the third doubles flight, and was victorious at the fifth singles flight on each day ... is now 11-2 in dual-match action in singles, including a 9-1 mark at the fifth flight, this year ... she has a team-best record of 18-4 in singles this season, and is impressive 79-19 in her career ... now has 125 total victories as a Falcon, to rank 12th in BG history ... is two wins shy of moving into the BGSU top-10.

Emily Dudzik ? Western Michigan

Junior - Gowen, Mich. (Greenville)

Emily Dudzik went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles and 2-0 at No. 2 singles to lead Western Michigan to a pair of shutout victories against in-state rival Eastern Michigan and Toledo. In doubles, Dudzik improved to 9-6 at the top spot with an 8-0 win against EMU and 8-4 triumph over the Rockets. She then followed by picking up her 20th and 21st singles wins of the season by beating EMU's Karina Ahuja 6-1, 6-4 and then winning an epic battle against Toledo's Maha Guirguis 7-6 (4), 6-7 (2), 1-0 (5). Overall, Dudzik improved to 43-22 in all matches this season and is now 134-74 in her career at WMU.

Additional Nominees

Kerry Langworthy ? Akron

Junior - Harare, Zimbabwe (Gateway HS)

Langworthy's three-set, last-match-on-court victory at No. 5 singles clinched a 4-3 win for Akron over Northern Illinois last Friday in the Zips' lone contest of the week. Playing through the discomfort of an injury to the nail on one of her big toes, she scored a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 7-5 marathon win over NIU's Brooke Forsberg. After being unable to compete in singles in MAC play in each of the last two seasons due to injury, Friday's victory was her first-ever against league singles competition. Langworthy also teamed with senior Tanyaradzwa Gombera to tally an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles to help the Zips win the doubles point for the eighth-straight time this season. Friday's win over the Huskies improved the Zips' conference record to 2-1 ? their most league wins in a season in 10 years. The win was also just UA's third in 20 tries versus NIU.

Diana Popescu ? Buffalo

Sophomore - Alexandria, Romania/AL. I. Cuza

Popescu went a perfect 2-0 on the weekend as the Bulls defeated Northern Illinois, 6-1, on Saturday for their ninth straight win.  She began the day at first singles where she combined with Denise Harijanto for an 8-0 shutout of the Huskies.  Popescu was just as dominant in singles play as she defeated her NIU opponent, 6-0, 6-3, at second singles.

Megan Martzolf ? Miami

Junior - Indianapolis, Ind. (Park Tudor)

Went undefeated at No. 3 singles and No. 3 boubles versus Ball State as she defeated Kylee Johnson 6-0, 6-2; and  beat Hanna Oman/Rachel Surowiec 8-1/partnered with Cara Wald.

Maha Guirguis ? Toledo

Junior - Cairo, Egypt (Manor House)

Guirguis went 2-0 vs. rival Bowling Green. Guirguis beat BG's Christine Chiricosta 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles and scored an 8-6 win in No. 2 doubles with partner Jenny Belsky. Against Western Michigan Guirguis took Emily Dudzik to the brink before loosing in three sets. Guirguis' effort against the Broncos was the closest Toledo came to scoring for the match. The loss against Western Michigan is only Guirguis' second loss this spring and she currently holds a 14-2 record in spring play.
