Junior - Harare, Zimbabwe (Gateway HS)
Langworthy's three-set, last-match-on-court victory at No. 5 singles clinched a 4-3 win for Akron over Northern Illinois last Friday in the Zips' lone contest of the week. Playing through the discomfort of an injury to the nail on one of her big toes, she scored a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 7-5 marathon win over NIU's Brooke Forsberg. After being unable to compete in singles in MAC play in each of the last two seasons due to injury, Friday's victory was her first-ever against league singles competition. Langworthy also teamed with senior Tanyaradzwa Gombera to tally an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles to help the Zips win the doubles point for the eighth-straight time this season. Friday's win over the Huskies improved the Zips' conference record to 2-1 ? their most league wins in a season in 10 years. The win was also just UA's third in 20 tries versus NIU.
