Mitcheff captured first place at the SUNY Brockport/Oklahoma Tournament’s 133-pound weight class. The junior started competition as the top seed and won his first three matches convincingly, with the only tight battle coming in a 5-1 decision over the U.S. Military Academy’s Whitt Dunning. He also defeated John Triggas of Brown 14-6, and pinned Christian Smith of Liberty in 6:14. In the final against second-seeded Jeff Scholl of Brown, Mitcheff was able to control the bout, scoring a heart-stopping 2-1 win for the title.

Gingerich went 4-1 at the Oklahoma Gold Classic as UB finished second, its highest finish ever at the event. Gingerich pinned Dan Pedone of Rutgers in 2:08, defeated Kyle Friedeman of Bloomsburg with a fall in 3:23, won by decision over Stephan Delorenzo of Brown, 2-0, won be decision over Jack Barret of Rutgers 7-2, and lost a 9-4 decision to No. 12 ranked Will Rowe of Oklahoma.

Burke went 5-0 last week, including a 14-2 major decision over Mitch Artist of Iowa State, the No. 3 ranked team in the nation. Burke added four wins at the Cyclone Invitational to capture first place. He had a fall on 3:59 over Quinn Boyce (UN), an 8-2 decision against Billy Lewis (UN), a 10-9 victory over Colby Covington (UN), and a 6-4 triumph against Bryan Cauley (Linewood).
Tommy Weinkam ? Ohio
Freshman ? Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller HS
Went 6-1 in the frosh/soph division at the Michigan State Open in East Lansing, Mich. Lost his opening round match on a 3-2 decision to MSU's John Fulger but won his next six bouts to claim third place. Took an 11-1 major decision against Michael Lybarger of Findlay and pinned MSU's Anthony Jones in 4:52. Defeated Michigan's Aaron Hynes 3-2 and North Carolina's Thomas Ferguson 1-0 in his last two matches.
