MAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Martina Wodzinski, Toledo - Senior, Wayne, Ill.
Senior Martina Wodzinski ran her winning streak at first singles to four in a row over the weekend with a pair of victories over BCS conference foes. On Friday, Wodzinski earned a 6-4, 6-1 win against Cincinnati's Lindsay Lonegran at the top of the lineup, and she followed that with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Michigan State's Michaela Silesova on Saturday. Wodzinski teamed with Maha Guirguis and cruised to an 8-0 victory at first doubles against Cincinnati, and the duo lost a narrow 8-6 decision at the top to Michigan State. Toledo knocked off the Bearcats, 5-2, while suffering a 5-2 setback to the Spartans.

Christine Chiricosta, Bowling Green - Junior, Avon Lake, Ohio (Avon Lake High School)
Junior Christine Chiricosta went 3-1 as the Falcons split a pair of matches last week, beating Detroit and losing at Michigan State, both by 5-2 scores. Chiricosta was dominant in her two singles wins, defeating Detroit's Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom by a 6-2, 6-1 result, then topping Michigan State's Michaela Silesova by a 6-1, 6-1 result. In doubles, Chiricosta teamed with freshman Maddy Eccleston for an 8-6 win over Detroit at the top flight and lost a narrow 8-7 (4) decision against Michigan State. Chiricosta is now 7-1 in dual-match singles play this spring, 14-3 in all singles matches this year and 56-17 in her Bowling Green career.
Julia Breuss, Eastern Michigan - Freshman, Dorbin, Austria
Freshman Julia Breuss led her team to a convincing victory over Cincinnati this past weekend with wins in single's and double's play. Breuss partnered with teammate Miriam Westerink to take down the Cincinnati duo of Lonergan/Ismail, 8-4. Breuss then defeated Lonergan in singles play, 6-0, 6-4.
Amanda Moccia, Western Michigan - Junior, Livonia, Mich. (Stevenson High School)
Junior Amanda Moccia led Western Michigan with a 3-1 record against a pair of Big East opponents. Moccia was instrumental in the Broncos defeating Marquette with wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. Trailing 2-0, Moccia finished her match at No. 2 singles against Marquette 6-0, 6-3 to start the Broncos' comeback victory. Moccia teamed with sophomore April Kerr to win 8-5 against the Golden Eagles and they were the final and clinching match for the doubles point against nationally-ranked DePaul with an 8-4 win at No. 2.
