Track

Lataya Dixon ? Buffalo

Sophomore - Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens

Dixon broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.77, breaking her previous mark, set two weeks earlier of 14.04. The time also broke the 15-year old Gina Relays record, established an NCAA East Regional qualifying time and is the fastest time in the MAC this season. The women's track 100 hurdles record has been lowered by Dixon twice this season. It started at 14.07, set by Melissa Ryan in 2000, then lowered to 14.04 by Dixon and again to 13.77.

Diana Dumitrescu ? Kent State

Freshman - Campulung, Romania/LNPA Campulung Muscel

At the 100th Drake Relays, competed in the Decathlon, 5,350 points, 3rd place; was the top collegiate finisher in the event and finished behind a former Olympian and former collegiate star. Captured an NCAA Outdoor Regional provisional berth. Her point total shattered 2009 KSU Varsity "K" inductee Aja Farris's 5,307 points in 2000, the previous high water mark for the program in the heptathlon.  Dumitrescu's heptathlon summery: Took fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 5.76 meters despite having to compete with an 0.6 headwind; earned two eighth place finishes in the javelin (32.83 meters) and 800 meters (2:26.24); won the shot put with a toss of 13.16 meters; elevated herself to 1.66 meters to force a three-way tie for fourth pace in the high jump; took seventh in both the 100-meter hurdles and 200 meters with times of 14.37 and 25.62, respectively.

Ali Bishel ? Ball State

Junior - Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.

At the GINA Relays, competed in the  10,000m Run - 2nd - 35:51.83. Bishel's time in the 10,000m run was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

 

Cara Dukes ? Central Michigan

Junior - Highland, Mich./Milford HS

Cara Dukes took first place in the 400m at the Oregon Relays, with her time of 56.33. Dukes also competed in the 200m coming away with a second place finish with a time of 25.7.

 

Rachel Patterson ? Miami

Sophomore - Rochester, Mich./Adams

In the 5000 meters ? placed 4th (16:45.9), and she improved her previous regional qualifier by .01 seconds at the Drake Relays. The time was the eighth-best performance in school history and the fastest since 2004.

 

Jennifer Sabra ? Western Michigan

Senior - Taylor, Mich./Kennedy HS

Sabra helped the Broncos to a second place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay, the best finish in WMU history at the Penn Relays. She competed in the 400m hurdles - 6th - 59.62; Shuttle Hurdle Relay - 2nd - 56.57; and 4x400m relay - 4th - 3:38.06.

Thekla Lorenz ? Ball State

Sophomore - Hamburg, Germany

At the Stan Lyons Invitational competed in the Long Jump, finishing - 2nd - 5.99m, .01m shy of NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Was the top MAC Performer at the event.

 

Kim Black ? Buffalo

Junior - Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Polytechnic

Black bettered her season-best with the leap of 38-5 (11.71m) at the Hillsdale Gina Relays to place third among 25 competitors.

 

Katie McColly ? Central Michigan

Freshman - Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton HS

Katie McColly took fourth overall in the long jump event at the HIllsdale relays with her jump of 18-11 3/4 McColly also set a new personal best.

 

Jasmine Gates - Eastern Michigan
Jumior - Virginia Beach, Va.
Gates had a career-day at the Hillsdale 'Gina' Relays. She hit an NCAA qualifying mark in the high jump for the first time in her career, clearing a personal-best 5-08.75 to finish second in the event. With her mark, she is now ranked second all-time in school history and is tied for first in the conference.  

Alexis Lape ? Miami

Senior - Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster

At the Stan Lyons Invitational -- Ball State, Indiana, Cincinnati, Dayton among others --- competed in the Triple Jump ?finishing 2nd (12.61 meters/41-4.50). Regional qualifying mark in the triple jump... she had previously qualified in the 400 Hurdles. Her distance moved her into third on the all-time performers list... it was the seventh-longest in school history and the longest since 2004

 

Cathy Udeani ? Ohio

Junior - Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley

Junior Cathy Udeani recorded a season-best performance in the high jump at the Hillsdale Relays, tying for second place and meeting the NCAA Regional qualifying standard, clearing the bar at 5-08.75.

 

Alexis Brown ? Western Michigan

Junior - Otisville, Mich./Lakeville HS

Once again Brown competed in 11 events over the weekend. She competed on all five days of the Penn Relays, helping WMU to its top finish ever at the Penn Relays with a second place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay. Heptathlon - 5th - 4,615; High jump - 6th - 5-6; 400m hurdles -  Shuttle Hurdle - 2nd - 56.57; 4x400m Relay - 3:38.06.
