MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week (two honorees)
Allison Stevens- Miami
Senior - Laurel, MD
Allison Stevens won six events last
weekend in Miami's dual meet victories over Toledo and Bowling
Green. Against the Rockets, Stevens swept all three freestyle
events ? 50 (:24.09), 100 (:52.25) and 200 (1:57.72). Versus the Falcons, she
won the 50 freestyle (:2403), the 100 butterfly (:57.52) and was a member of
the 400 medley relay (3:56.66).
Ashley Marion ? Ohio
Senior - London,
Ontario/Banting Secondary School
Ashley paced Ohio
with wins in the 200 freestyle (1:52.66) and the 100 freestyle (51.78) in the
team's win over Bowling Green
Friday, with her time in the 100 free being the fastest in the MAC to date. On
Saturday versus Toledo, Marion showed her versatility as she again
won the 200 freestyle (1:52.70), while also winning the 200 backstroke in
2:07.15 and the 200 IM in 2:06.31, the best time in the MAC to date. She also
swam the lead-off leg for Ohio's winning 400
medley relay team (3:52.33) against Toledo.
Marion won all
five individual events she was entered in on the weekend.

Kendall Karchner ? Akron
Junior - Maumee,

Karchner compiled four individual
victories for the Zips adding a first and second place finish in the 400-yard
medley relay events over the past weekend.
In Akron’s nail biting loss to Ball State
(151-149), Karchner swept the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes (59.30,
2:08.64) and notched a first place finish with the 400-yard medley relay team
winning in 3:59.11. In Saturday’s loss to Eastern Michigan, 172-122, the Akron
junior repeated her efforts tallying a pair of first place finishes in both the
100-yard and 200-yard backstroke races (59.82, 2:08.57) while contributing to a
second place 400-yard relay (3:59.79).
Lisa Maertin ? Ball
State
Senior - New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln
Way-Central
Diver Lisa Maertin won the 1-meter
diving competition versus Akron last Friday with
a score of 281.85 which qualifies her for the 2009 NCAA Zone Diving meet held
in Minneapolis, Minn., from March 12-15. She also placed
second on the 3-meter board versus the Zips with a score of 278.40. In
Saturday's meet versus Buffalo,
Maertin scored second-place efforts on both boards (266.55 on 3-meter and
265.95 on 1-meter).
Megan Bomicino ? Bowling Green
Freshman - Downers Grove, Illinois
In Friday's meet between BGSU and
OU, she placed first in the 1650 yard freestyle, with a time of 17:41.74. She continued to have a strong race taking
4th in the 500 freestyle, 5:19.94, and 6th in the 200 yard I.M., 2:19.30. In Saturday's meet against Miami she took another first place in the
1000 yard freestyle, swimming it in 10:33.95.
She also participated in the 400 yard freestyle relay where her squad
took second with a time of 3:46.14; being the last leg in the relay, she had a
split time of 57.61. Also in the meet
against Miami,
Megan took third in the 200 yard butterfly, 2:13.14 and sixth in the 500 yard
freestyle, 3:46.14.
Jessie Koltz ? Buffalo
Sophomore - Chenango
Bridge, NY/Chenango Valley
Jessie Koltz won the 50 freestyle
(24.30) against Eastern Michigan, and also won three individual events against Ball State,
taking first in the 50 freestyle (24.65), 100 freestyle (54.56) and the 100
butterfly (58.90) to lift the Bulls past the Cardinals last weekend.
Alissa Ricard ? Eastern Michigan
Senior - Tucson, Ariz.-Catalina
Foothills
In helping the Eagles to three wins
over the weekend, the senior swimmer won four individual events, as well as
three relays. Against Akron
and Xavier, she was the first to hit the wall in the 100 and 200 free, while
helping the 400 free and 400 medley relay teams to wins. Against Buffalo, she once again
won the 100 and 200 free, while helping the 400 medley relay team to a win.
Jacy Dyer ? Toledo
Sophomore - Lebanon, PA/Cedar

Won the 1650 freeystyle at Miami (17:05.05)... Has
yet to lose a 1650 race this season in two attempts... Placed second in the 500
freestyle at Miami
(5:02.92)... Finished first in the 500 freestyle at Ohio (5:04.34)... Has finished in the
top-two of every 500 free race she has competed in (five) with three
first-place finishes... Touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle at Miami (10:15.08)... Has
won all three 1000 free races she has competed in this season
