Women’s Golfer of the Week

Stephany Fleet, Eastern Michigan, Sr., Dewitt, Mich.-Dewitt 

Senior Stephany Fleet finished second individually with a one-over par score of 72 at the Wolverine Invitational at University of Michigan Golf Course Sunday afternoon, Sept. 14. Michigan’s Ashley Bauer carded a 3-under par 68 to take medalist honors. The finish was Fleet’s 10th career top five finish in 32 all-time events and her 23rd top 20 showing.

Kristen Hill, Akron, Fr., Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay HS 

Hill’s fired a one-under par-71 on day one to post the 13th lowest round of the Great Smokies Intercollegiate tournament among 22 teams and 110 competitors. In all, the true freshman carded 146 strokes (+2) for the invitational, just missing the top-10 cut with an 11th-place finish.

 

Brittany Kelly, Ball State, So., Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern H.S. 

Brittany Kelly finished 12th at the Nittany Lion Invitational and led Ball State to a fourth-place finish at the 15-team tournament. Ball State’s team finish was the best of the four MAC schools at the event -- Western Michigan (10th), Ohio (11th) and Bowling Green (13th).

 

Lauren Glew, Bowling Green, So., Gibsonia, Penn. (Mars Area) 

Lauren Glew had her best performance of the season, recording three sub-80 rounds, finishing in a tie for 16th with a 54-hole score of 232. The sophomore opened with a 77-76 and finished with a 79.

 

Boram Lee, Toledo, Sr., Seoul, South Korea 

Led Rockets to 18th place finish at rain-shortened Wolverine Invitational with her six-over par 77 round.

 

Britney Hamilton, Western Michigan, So., Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion HS 

Britney Hamilton carded three-straight rounds in the 70’s (72-78-76) for the second time in her young Bronco career. The even-par round of 72 is a career low and the sixth-place finish is also a career best. She followed her career low round with a 6-over par 78 and rebounded with a 4-over par 76.  The sixth-place finish marks the fourth of Hamilton’s career and third in a row. She ended her 2007-08 season with 10th-place finishes at the Red Rocks Invitational and College of William & Mary Invitational.
