Updated 12/14/2010
Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Beverly Elcock, Eastern Michigan
Junior, Fort Wayne, Ind. (Northrop)
Elcock, returning to competition for the first time in more than a year after suffering injury during the entire 2009-10 season, came back in grand fashion, winning both races in which she competed. The junior middle distance runner came in first place in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:58.46, then repeated her first-place performance, running the third leg in the 4x400-meter relay and helping her team cross the finish line in 4:01.68. The finishes helped the Eagles beat the Toledo Rockets in the duel meet which kicked off EMU's 2010-11 campaign.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Angela Scarber, Eastern Michigan
Junior, Waterford, Mich. (Kettering)
Angela Scarber set a PR with her weight throw toss of 53-00.25 and had the best shot put throw of the event when she tossed the apparatus more than 43 feet for first-place finishes in each event. Scarber's throws were also tops in the MAC this season and she helped give her team the advantage in beating the Toledo Rockets in the dual meet.

Other Nominees:
Kim Preston, Kent State
RS Junior, Greenville, Pa. (Reynolds)
Preston won the women's pole vault with a mark of 12'-1.50" (3.70m) last Friday (Dec. 10) at the Golden Flash Gala.

Kiah Douglas, Toledo

Douglas also earned second in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.80m (38-8.75), good for ninth all-time in the Toledo indoor record book.
