Men’s Golfer Of The Week
Ciaran McAleavey, Toledo, Sr., Banbridge, Ireland (St. Colman's College)
McAleavey led Toledo to its first tournament title in over two years by tying for third place at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational with a two-under par 208 (69-68-71). McAleavey's three-round total was the best of his Rocket career and his 68 in the second round equalled his best 18-hole score as a collegian. McAleavey also helped the Rockets establish a school record for best 18-hole round with a 273 in the second round on Monday. UT shot a team score of two-over par 842 at the par-70, 6,438-yard Delaware Country Club to finish just ahead of Eastern Kentucky’s total of 847 (293-273-281). The last time the Rockets posted a tournament victory was at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate on April 16-17, 2005.
Stewart Jamieson, Ohio, So., Worthington, Ohio (Thomas Worthington)
In his second event as a collegian, and first this season, Jamieson had a breakout performance at Ball State. The Bobcat sophomore finished tied for 12 among 90 golfers in the field and led Ohio with a 214. In the second round of the tourney, Jamieson shot a 66, the second-lowest round in the event, and the best for an Ohio golfer since last year's Yestingsmeier Invite.
Jace Walker, Bowling Green, Sr., St. Thomas, Ontario
Walker carded a 208 (-2) to finish third at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, helping the Falcons to a fifth-place finish among 17 teams. Walker was one of just seven golfers below par after 54 holes. The 208 matches the BGSU school record for 54 holes. He had eight birdies and one eagle, which came on a par-4. He eagled the same hole two years in a row.
Graham Hill, Eastern Michigan, Sr., Brights Grove, Ontario (Northern Collegiate (Indiana (Pa.))
Hill fired a five-under 211 (69-70-72) to finish in a tie for eighth place here at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Intercollegiate at the par 72, 6,850 yard Azalea City Golf Course ,Sept. 17-18. Hill was the highest ranked MAC player in the tournament. As a team, the Eagles finished fourth with a team score of 863 (288-290-285) as the MTSU Blue Raiders claimed the tournament title carding with a 826 (270-272-284).
