Cleveland, Ohio - Two representatives from each of the Mid-American Conference institutions met in Cleveland for the 2010 Winter Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meeting.
The SAAC representatives shared their thoughts on proposed new NCAA legislation and took back some discussion items and new information to their campus SAAC. Each institution updated the group on what was going on at their campus and their SAAC, including community service, upcoming spring events, SAAC initiatives as well as any hot topics their institution is currently discussing. The group also discussed a joint community service project for Haiti.
Members joined in a question and answer session with MAC Commissioner Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher. This was the first time that many of the student-athletes have met the Commissioner since he started June 2009.
The meeting wrapped up late afternoon with a combined open forum session with the Faculty Athletics Representatives and Academic Advisers.
That evening the group was able to get to know one another better at The Corner Alley restaurant/bowling alley Downtown Cleveland. The evening included dinner, bowling and great camaraderie.
