MAC Wrestler of the Week
Sean Clair, Eastern Michigan - Senior, Turtlecreek, Pa. (Plum High School)
Senior Sean Clair went 4-0 this weekend, which included a pin of No. 17 ranked Bill Ashnault from Rutgers University at the Spartan Duals. Clair pinned Ashnualt at the 3:56 mark of the 133 lbs. bout to give Eastern Michigan its only lead of the day against the Scarlet Knights, 6-3. Clair also notched a 7-2 decision over Jan Vlinski from the University of Findlay and a 1-0 shutout over Stanford University's Justin Paulson to improve his season record to a team-best 18-9.

Andrew Schutt, Buffalo - Freshman, Greenwood Township, Mich. (Yale High School)
Freshman Andrew Schutt earned one of Buffalo's four victories as the Bulls fell to 23rd nationally-ranked Edinboro on Saturday. At 141, Schutt earned his fifth career dual victory and 10th overall by capturing a major decision over Edinboro's Joel Webster, 13-2. Schutt jumped out to a 10-1 lead over the three-time Connecticut state champion following the first period and nearly ended the match by fall on numerous occasions.
Tony D'Alie, Central Michigan - Senior, Rochester, Wis. (Waterford High School)
Senior Tony D'Alie posted a 10-2 major decision over Tyler Parker in the Chippewas' 33-6 win over Stanford on Sunday. D'Alie scored four takedowns, while allowing just two escape points, to improve his record to 10-2 overall this season. Central Michigan improved to 9-2 overall with the victory.
Danny Mitcheff, Kent State - Senior, Lorain, Ohio (Elyria High School)
Senior Danny Mitcheff went 3-0 Sunday at the Wendy's Duals in Ashland as he scored an 11-3 major decision over No. 10 Steve Bell of Maryland. Mitcheff also defeated Purdue's Akif Eren 10-6, as Eren is currently 19-8 on the year. In his first match of the day, Mitcheff needed only four minutes to record a 15-0 technical fall over Ashland's Jacob Garringer. With the victories, Mitcheff is now tied for second on Kent State's career win list with 121. On the season, he is 24-2 with 10 major decisions, two technical falls and one pin.
Bryan Deutsch, Northern Illinois - Junior, Columbia City, Ind. (Columbia City High School)
Junior Bryan Deutsch posted a 4-0 record last week improving his overall record to 14-3. Deutsch posted his first victory of the week defeating Ohio's Clay Tucker in a 3-2 decision in the Huskies' first MAC match of the season on Jan. 14. Deutsch then scored a perfect 3-0 day at the Spartan Duals, Jan. 16 as he opened with a pin of Findlay's Michael Lybarger in 6:43 and followed that up with a 6-0 win over Michael Kent of Stanford. Deutsch edged out Michigan State's Anthony Jones in a 10-9 decision to close out his afternoon.
Erik Schuth, Ohio - Junior, Spencerport, N.Y. (Brockport High School)
Junior Erik Schuth helped the Bobcats (9-2, 1-0) to a spotless 2-0 record in dual meets this weekend, earning two victories by major decision to pace Ohio to wins over Northern Illinois (29-7) and North Carolina State (33-7). Schuth won an 11-2 major decision over Northern Illinois' Scott Penny on Thursday, which he followed up with a dominating 15-1 major decision over NC State's Christian McClain on Sunday. Schuth, ranked 12th in the nation at 197 pounds in the most recent release by Amateur Wrestling News, is 19-3 this season with a spotless 9-0 record in dual meet competition. He is 4-0 in matches decided by pin, 1-0 in technical falls and 3-1 in matches determined by major decision.
