CLEVELAND, OH ? The Mid-American Conference released its 2009 Academic All-MAC Wrestling team as selected by the league’s faculty athletic representatives. A total of six student-athletes were named to the team.
Chris Jenkins, a senior from Eastern Michigan, and Seth Morton, a junior from Ohio, are the lone repeat honorees as both were named on previous teams, Jenkins in 2007 and Morton in 2008. First-time selections are Kevin Smith of Buffalo, Vince DiDona from Central Michigan, Ross Tice from Kent State and Bryan O’Connor of Northern Illinois.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the ward. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season only are considered.
