WMU's Calderone Recognized as MAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

MAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

Michael Calderone ? Western Michigan

Sophomore - Grass Lake, Mich. (Jackson Lumen Christi)

Michael Calderone was a perfect 4-0 for the Broncos in a pair of road wins at Butler and Purdue last weekend. Calderone was critical in the Broncos' picking up another victory over a Big Ten opponent and on its home court at Purdue. He won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and then came back from losing the first set to win 7-5 in a third set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles to clinch the victory for WMU. Against Butler, he won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles and picked up a straight-set triumph at No. 2 singles. Calderone leads the team with an 18-6 mark in singles and he is second on the team with 15 doubles wins.

Jose Perdomo ? Ball State

Senior - Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico (Colegio San Jose)

Perdomo helped Ball State even its overall record to 2-2 after defeating Dayton 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.  Perdomo did not lose a set posting a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles.  Perdomo then went on to win at No. 1 doubles over the Flyers, 8-3.

 

Wade Ward ? Toledo

Senior - Cincinnati, OH (Indian Hill)

Ward finished the weekend undefeated in match play, winning three singles and three doubles matches. Ward’s weekend included 6-1, 6-2 wins over Tyler Cempre of Denison and Adam Erickson of Case Western in No. 4 singles. vs. Wayne State: No. 3 Doubles - Jay Miller/Wade Ward def.
