Vince DiDona ? Central Michigan
Senior - Cleveland, Ohio  (St. Edward HS)
184 lbs.
DiDona won all three of his matches as CMU went 1-1-1 last week. He defeated Eastern Michigan's Derek Foore in overtime, 6-4, Nebraska's No. 10-ranked Vince Jones, 8-6, and Virginia Tech's Tommy Spellman, 7-3. DiDona has now won five straight and eight of his last nine matches overall. He was one of just two Chippewas to go 3-0 last week and is now tied for second on the team with 18 victories.

Sophomore ? Mexico, N.Y. (Mexico HS)

133 lbs.
Smith captured a 7-3 decision over Quentin Keyes of Ohio, who earlier this season eliminated Smith from the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, NV.  Smith captured his 27th overall win of the season, placing him second on the team.  Smith is currently second on the team in dual meet victories with 12 wins.  Recently, Smith was honored as the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week on January 23, 2009.


J.J. Johnson ? Eastern Michigan

Redshirt Jr. - Turtlecreek, Pa.(Plum HS)

Johnson won his 13th match (13-8; 1-1 MAC)Thursday with an impressive win against CMU's Ryan Cubberly, 4-3. He overcame a 3-1 deficit heading into the 3rd period with an escape and takedown for the come-from-behind win. Johnson was one of only two Eagles to claim a victory in the match.


Drew Lashaway ? Kent State
Senior - Bowling Green, Ohio (Pemberville Eastwood)

141 lbs. 
10th-ranked Drew Lashaway only has two pins on the year, but he has made the most of them. With the score tied 6-6 Saturday (Jan. 24) in Kent State’s conference opener against Northern Illinois, Lashway avenged a loss against NIU’s Patrick McLemore in the conference finals at 141 pounds. In the second period with a scoreless tie, Lashaway used a second-period cement mixer to pin the defending Mid-American Conference Champ in 3:42. With the win, Lashaway improves to 22-5 on the year and 1-0 in the conference.


Tristen DeShazer ? Northern Illinois

RS-Sophomore ? Wichita, Kan. (Wichita West)

133 ? lbs.

DeShazer pinned No. 14 Dan Mitcheff of Kent State in the second period during Saturday’s dual meet. Mitcheff is the fourth ranked wrestler to fall victim to DeShazer's pinning prowess. The Wichita, Kansas, native has now pinned 14 opponents, the fifth-most in the nation, including four grapplers ranked in the IntermatWrestle/NWCA Top-20.


Justin Powell ? Ohio

RS Freshman - Youngstown, Ohio/Boardman

Locked in a tight dual with Buffalo, Ohio led by one point heading into the final bout at heavyweight. Redshirt freshman Justin Powell, competing in the first dual meet of his career, scored a takedown on Brett Correll in the final seconds to win by decision, 6-4, and secure Ohio's second league victory. Powell had seen limited action this year, improving to 3-2 on the season.
