David Brent, Eastern Michigan, Jr., Monroe, Mich./St. Mary’s Catholic
Junior David Brent set a career-best at the Len Paddock Invitational, running 1:50.45 in the 800 meters, to finish eighth. His time just missed the regional qualifying mark of 1:50.40 but is the top mark in the Mid-American Conference.
Field Athlete of the Week
Tyler Sweet, Akron, Fr., Warren, Pa. / Warren Area HS
Won the men’s javelin. Qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional with a throw of 213-3 (64.99), which was over 14 feet better than second place and over 12 feet better than his previous season best.

Stamatakis broke his own record in the discus at the Campbell/Wright Invitational. He threw 168-4 (51.30m), bettering his old mark of 167-7 (51.07m) set last season. He finished seventh in a very strong field and also finished seventh in the shot put at 53-4.50 (16.27m).
Gerald Gersham, Eastern Michigan, Jr., Southfield, Mich./Southfield
Junior Gerald Gersham threw a foot-and-a-half career-best at the Len Paddock Invitational to win the event. His throw of 56-10.00 is an NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark, third-best MAC effort and ranks fifth all-time in school history.

Junior Evan Whiting finished second in the men’s shot put 57’-8.25”at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the University of Akron. Senior Nick Ivancic won the men’s 400-meter hurdles, timing in at 51.76 seconds at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the University of Akron.

Anthony Thomas, Akron, So., Cleveland, Ohio / Kennedy HS
Won the 200 and placed second in the 100. After qualifying for the NCAA Regional in the 200 last week, he improved his seed in the event with a personal record time of 21.11, the fifth-best effort in UA history. He was followed by Aaron Dobson, who posted an NCAA Regional time of 21.33. In the 100, Thomas tripped the tape at 10.75, a seasonal-best time and just two on hundreths off first (10.73).

Jordanek won the men’s 1,500-meters with a time of 3:57.76 on Saturday (May 10) during the meet’s final day of competition at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.
