Western Michigan wins MAC Women's Tennis Championship
Toledo ? Western Michigan successfully defended its women’s tennis championship Sunday afternoon by defeating Buffalo 4-1 to earn the MAC’s automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Broncos title was its seventh in school history and second consecutive against the Bulls.
WMU captured the doubles point when at No. 2 doubles Kerstin Pahl and Priyanka Parekh topped Miglena Nenova and Natalie Dean 8-3 and at No 3 doubles Carrie Jeanmaire and Emily Dudzik defeated Katrin Fischer and Tina Jacob 8-2.
The Broncos then won at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, when Tournament MVP Carrie Jeamaire defeated Mgilena Nenova 6-1-7-5; Kerstin Pahl beat Denis Harijanto 6-3, 6-4 and Priyanka Parekh won against Andreea Novaceano 6-3, 6-3.
The Bulls only point came at No. 6 singles when Katrin Fischer defeated Emily Dudzik 6-2, 6-2.
