MAC Announces 2006 Men's Cross Country Academic All-MAC Team

2006 Men’s Cross Country Academic All-MAC Team Announced

A total of nine student-athletes receive Academic All-MAC honor

 

CLEVELAND -- The Mid-American Conference announced its 2006 Men’s Cross Country Academic All-MAC team Wednesday, as voted by faculty

athletic representatives at MAC institutions. A total of nine student-athletes were named to the team. The number of honorees on the MAC All-Academic

Team are the number that is set for the specifi c sport or 33% of the number of nominees, whichever is greater.

 

Central Michigan, Kent State and Ohio all lead the team with two Academic All-MAC selections. Leading the Chippewas was second team All-MAC

juniors, Matt Loiselle and Andrew Manning. Seth Hutchinson and fi rst team All-MAC Ben Wietmarschen represented Kent State. Senior Brian

King and Sophomore Shamus Eaton were selected from the Bobcats.

 

Akron’s Jeff Swartzel, Buffalo’s Andy Leonard and Miami’s Pat Sovacool rounded out the Academic All-MAC selections.

 

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a

3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers

in their fi rst year of residence are not eligible for the award.
