MAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Casey Cullen, Western Michigan - Junior, Beverly Hills, Mich. (Birmingham Seaholm High School)
Junior Casey Cullen went 5-1 for Western Michigan over three matches. Cullen went undefeated on Friday against Illinois State and Green Bay. Cullen fought back from losing the first set against Illinois State to win handily 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 to break a two-all tie in the match and then won 6-4, 6-3 over Green Bay at No. 4. Cullen came back against nationally-ranked Northwestern to win at No. 4 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 over Eric Spector. Cullen also won both of his doubles matches against Illinois State, 9-8 (3), and Green Bay, 8-6.
Eduardo Pavia, Ball State - Junior, Carolina, Puerto Rico
Junior Eduardo Pavia improved his overall singles record to 3-1 on the season after defeating Michigan State's Ronnie Hulewicz at No. 1 singles winning the match in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. This is the second straight week Pavia has defeated a Big Ten team at the No. 1 spot. Pavia also captured a No. 1 doubles victory over the Spartans.
