In a 12-team field that included 12-team event that included five top 25 teams, Kent State's Brett Cairns shot a four-under 213 (78-62-72) to finish tied for eighth and earn his fifth top 10 finish of the season. The weekend was highlighted by his record breaking second round 62 which set the KSU mark for lowest individual round previously held by Ryan Yip with a 63 at the 2005 MAC Championship. Cairns rolled home nine birdies and one eagle against on bogey as he posted the tournament's best round in the nationally rank field by three strokes. He has a 72.5 scoring average this season, including 14 rounds of par or better.

Eric Steger tied for 14th out of 63 golfers at the Crooked Stick Invitational, held at one of the most historic golf courses in the country and the site of the 1991 PGA, the 1993 U.S. Women's Open, the 2005 Solheim Cup and the 2009 U.S. Senior Open . . . Steger played the course to par 71 in the first round and plus 2 in the final round . . . He helped Ball State to a ninth place finish in a field that included nationally ranked Illinois and Middle Tennessee State . . . Ball State was the only Mid-American Conference school playing in the event.
