On Saturday at Ball State, Heim was on the winning 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay teams, won the 200 Free with a season-best 1:55.21 and won the 100 Fly. Heim and the Bobcats are 9-2, including 4-2 in conference.

Additional Nominees:

Jessica Ballard, Buffalo - Senior, Hilton Head, S.C. (Hilton Head High School)

Senior Jessica Ballard won a total of three individual and two relay races in Buffalo's victories over St. Bonaventure and Bowling Green. In the Bowling Green meet, Ballard posted a season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.33) and also scored a team and season-best time in the 400-yard individual medley (4:29.13). The Bulls have won seven straight meets, including their last four against MAC opposition.

Kendall Karchner, Akron - Senior, Maumee, Ohio. (Maumee High School)

Senior Kendall Karchner played a key role last week for Akron despite a loss at No. 39 Toledo (174-124) by sweeping both backstroke events. Karchner won the 100-yard race in a time of 57.44, beating out teammate Kelsea Cross by seven tenths of a second. The senior also won the 200-yard race in more dominating fashion, finishing in a time of 2:04.51, over two seconds ahead of the competition.

Lisa Maertin, Ball State - Senior, New Lenox, Ill. (Lincoln Way-Central High School)

Senior diver Lisa Maertin posted first-place finishes on both the one-meter (255.23) and three-meter (255.98) boards during last Saturday's near upset victory over Ohio. Maertin's win on the one-meter board gave the Cardinals an 85-65 lead eight events into the meet, while her three-meter victory helped the Cardinals recapture a 134-130 edge entering the final two events.

Emily Bennet, Bowling Green - Freshman, Seaforth, Australia

Freshman Emily Bennet swam in three individual events and one relay event against Buffalo last Saturday.  In each of the four races she competed in, Bennet finished in top three spots.  Bennet touched in at 24.63 and 53.24 for second place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, respectively.  Her third place finish came in the 200-yard freestyle, during which she posted a time of 1:56.12.  In the final race of the meet, Bennet swam the second leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay, helping her Falcon relay squad swim to a first-place finish, posting a time of 3:33.44, out-touching the second-place Buffalo team by one one-hundredth of a second.  The Falcon's time in this event was also their second fastest time in the event on the season.

Samantha Partridge, Eastern Michigan - Sophomore, Carmel, Ind. (Carmel High School)

Sophomore Samantha Partridge captured three victories last Saturday in a dual meet at Miami, the first time she's turned in the trifecta in her career.  Partridge swam a time of 1:52.52 in the 200-yard free before touching the wall in first with a time of 4:58.95 in the 500-yard free. Both times were good enough to crack the top-10 in the MAC, respectively. Later on in the meet she swam the second leg on the victorious 400-yard free relay team.

Carly Harter, Toledo - Freshman, North Huntington, Pa.

Freshman Carly Harter helped lead the No. 39 Rockets to a 174-124 victory over Akron with three event victories Friday evening.  Harter won the 200 free in 1:52.14, nearly two and a half seconds better than the runner-up finisher. She also recorded a come-from-behind victory in the 100 free, as she trailed by four-tenths of a second at the midway point before rallying to take the win in 52.01. Harter proceeded to tally a win in the 400 IM in 4:27.06, the best time in the MAC thus far, and capped off her night by swimming on Toledo's fourth-place 400 free relay team that finished with a time of 3:37.65.
