MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

Chris Krupa - Ball State - Sophomore, Indianapolis, Ind. (Pike High School)

Chris Krupa helped guide the Cardinals to four wins in dual meet action last weekend, by scoring four individual victories, two relay wins and a second-place individual clocking. In Friday's contest versus Eastern Illinois, Krupa posted a season-fast time in the 200 fly (1:57.49) to win the event.  Krupa also won the 100 fly with a time of 52.35. Saturday, Krupa helped guide the Cardinals to wins over IUPUI, Saint Louis and Western Illinois in a quad meet at the IUPUI Natatorium by placing first in both butterfly events once again, clocking a season-fast effort of 52.20 in the 100 and 1:57.96 in the 200. Krupa also posted a second-place effort in the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:01.58. Krupa was also a member of the first place 200 Medley Relay squad on both days. Overall, Krupa's season-fast times in the 100 and 200 fly rank him in the top eight in each event.

Matt Zavislak - Eastern Michigan - Sophomore, Commerce Twp., Mich. (Walled Lake Northern)

Matt Zavislak had an impressive weekend at the Eastern Michigan Invite, winning six events and taking second place in another to help the Eagles to their 12th straight Eastern Michigan Invite title. The sophomore took home wins in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles, swimming his fastest time of the year in the 100 free, touching the wall in 46.17. He bested his fastest 200 free time by more than four seconds and his 50 free win was his third of the season in the event. Zavislak also helped the 200 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams to wins as well while finishing second in the 400 free relay to cap off an outstanding meet.

Jameson Kuper, Southern Illinois - Senior, Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Southern Illinois competed in the Mizzou Invitational over the weekend against Missouri, Drury, Missouri S&T, Arizona State and North Dakota.  Jameson Kuper recorded top-five finishes in each of his three events, finishing fourth in the 200 IM (1:51.28), first in the 100 breast (55.98) and third in the 200 breast (2:02.72). Kuper's time in the 100 breast is currently ranked 47th in the nation.  The Salukis finished third overall as a team at the meet.

Colin Patrican, Buffalo - Sophomore, Ithaca, N.Y. (Urbana High School)

Buffalo divers won all four contested diving events last weekend at the Zippy Invite. Patrican won the men's three-meter diving event on Friday with a score of 287.55 and took second in the one-meter (256.40) event on Saturday, with teammate Kenny Rhoades taking first.
