MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week (two honorees)
Alyson Schmidt ? Miami
Senior - Maineville, Ohio / Kings HS
Schmidt won two individual events and swam on two other winning relay teams. Schmidt took first in the 100- and the 200-yard freestyle races, clocking respective times of :51.89 and 1:53.01. She teamed with Allison Stevens, Malarie Schmidt and Paige Iversen to win the 200 medley relay and with Stevens, Jennifer Nemeth and Malarie Schmidt to capture the 400 freestyle relay.
Meghan Reissig ? Toledo
Junior - Rochester, NY/Victor
Reissig finished first in the 100 backstroke (58.25), 200 backstroke (2:05.54) and the 400 IM (4:26.65). She was also part of UT's 200 medley relay squad that was first to touch the wall in 1:44.91. Laura Lindsay, Amanda Thompson and Katie White rounded out the Rocket relay team. Ressig's 400 IM time is a new pool record, as well as one of the top times in the Mid-American Conference for the season.

Cathryn Collins ? Akron
Junior - Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head
Collins amassed three individual top-five finishes this weekend including a pair of wins as well as assisting on a relay win. Collins finished the 1000-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 10:19.37, 19 seconds ahead of the competition. The junior also took the top-slot in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.85), adding a second place finish in the 200-yard fly (2:06.42). Finally, Collins anchored the UA 400-yard freestyle relay, which won with a 3:30.93 timestamp.
Lisa Maertin ? Ball State
Junior - New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way-Central
On the 3-meter diving board versus Miami, junior Lisa Maertin improved upon her NCAA Zone Diving qualifying mark and cracked the BSU record books as well, posting the third-best six dive score in program history at 3:01.13. The 3-meter score was also a career-best for the junior. Maertin also posted a six-dive score of 263.55 on the 1-meter board, as she finished second in both events.
Vicky Yu ? Bowling Green
Freshman - Shenyang, China/Shenyang Foreign Service
Vicky Yu had had more outstanding performances this past weekend against Buffalo, Youngstown and Akron. Yu took five first place finishes in her respective events. On Friday she took first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.29) and the 100-yard butterfly (57.60). On Saturday she won the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.74), 100-yard butterfly (57.77) and the 400-yard IM (4:34.92). Yu also placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (54.14). The freshman was also apart of the winning 400-yard medley relay on Friday as well as the fourth place team in the 400-yard freestyle relay on Saturday.
Meili Carpenter ? Buffalo
Junior - Boulder, CO/Fairview
Carpenter swept the diving events Friday night against Bowling Green and Youngstown State, scoring 300.40 on the one-meter board and 263.35 in the three-meter event to help the Bulls beat both the Falcons and the Penguins. On Saturday Carpenter picked up a pair of second-place finishes against Toledo, scoring 274.35 on the one-meter board, and finishing just tenths behind the Toledo competition on the three-meter board with a score of 261.08. Despite the loss to Toledo, Buffalo's season ended with a record of 9-3 (4-3 MAC), their best since joining the MAC in 1998.
Ashley Durand ? Eastern Michigan
Senior ? Lincoln, Neb. (Southeast HS)
Durand was a double-winner against Ohio, winning the 100 breast (1:04.68) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.86).
Rachel Heim ? Ohio
Sophomore - San Diego, Calif/Horizon HS
Rachel helped Ohio hand Eastern Michigan its first dual-meet home loss in six home duals this year Saturday, winning three of the four events in which she competed, with her three winning times being the fastest in the conference over the weekend. She took the top spot in the 100 back in 57.96 and the 100 fly in 56.66. Rachel also anchored Ohio's winning 400 free relay team that finished in 3:29.22. In her other race, Rachel touched second in the 100 free in 52.10, just .15 behind first.
