Ohio Heads to Eighth Straight NCAA Tournament

ATHENS, Ohio-Capping off a third-straight Mid-American Conference Championship, Ohio Volleyball will play Pennsylvania in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on the campus of Duke University in Durham, N.C. on Friday.

If the `Cats win, they would then face the winner of High Point and the host Blue Devils, the bracket's No. 12 seed.

The Bobcats (21-12 overall) finished 10-6 in MAC play and won the East Division title before sweeping their way through the conference tournament. The win also clinched Ohio's eighth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

The `Cats have been led throughout the season by First Team All-MAC honoree and MAC Tournament MVP outside hitter Sue Jacobi (Louisville, Ky.). The senior ranks in the top 20 in the country in both points (4.88) and kills per set (4.22). Junior outside hitter/middle blocker Katie Post also garnered First Team All-MAC recognition while leading the MAC and ranking 17th nationally in blocks per set (1.42). Senior setter Michelle Jantsch (Mission Hills, Kan.) picked up Second Team honors, while middle blocker Lexie Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y.) was named to the All-Freshman team.

Penn enters the tournament at 17-10 overall and has won 13 of its last 14 matches. The two-time defending Ivy League champs, the Quakers are led by the league's Player of the Year, setter Megan Tryon. The senior was key to the Quakers' success this season, leading the league with 10.62 assists per set (11.00 in Ivy matches), while also adding 2.52 digs per set, 70 kills and 22 blocks. Senior outside hitter Julia Swanson and libero Madison Wojciechowski were also selected to the Ivy's first team. Sophomore right side Lauren Martin and middle blocker Amanda Pacheco were each named to the second team.
