BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team dropped its first match at home Tuesday evening with a 1-0 loss to Detroit in a game dictated by heavy winds and rain.

The Bulls (6-8-1) outshot the Titans (7-6-2), 20-8, and had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks but were unable to find the back of the net as Detroit's Brandon Waterstradt garnered 11 saves in the shutout.

Shortly after play started, the heavy wind and rain that has pummeled the Midwest today arrived in Buffalo and continued throughout the match. Detroit had the wind in the first half and got the match's only goal when Sam Seppo scored in the 31st minute. Seppo picked up the goal after Jacob Munchiando's pass bounced in front of UB goalkeeper Ryan Aubrey, who came out of the box to attempt to make a play. The ball bounced in front of Aubrey and Seppo then took the bounce and head the ball toward the goal from 25 yards away. A UB defender was unable to catch up to the ball before it crossed goal line as Detroit took a 1-0 lead.

The Bulls had their chances throughout the second half with the wind at their backs, taking 11 shots to Detroit's one. Rich Wilson and Sam Craven both finished with three shots to lead the Bulls.

The loss was UB's first on home turf. The Bulls had entered the contest with a 3-0-1 record at UB Stadium.

The Bulls next face Florida Atlantic in a Mid-American Conference match on October 31 at 1:00 pm.
