MAC Announces First Men's Swimming and Diving Award

Andy Balczo, Evansville

Senior diver Andy Balczo set a new school record on the 3-meter boards in Saturday's dual meet against Centre College. Balczo's first-place score of 318.90 beat the 1995-96 record set by Brett Fox. Balczo also took the top score for the 1M event, beating his opponents by more than 100 points with a final score of 295.65.

Hogan anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:06.01) as the Bulls defeated Pittsburgh, 127-116, in the meet's final event. Hogan also won the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best 46.63. He also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best 1:43.64. The win over the Panthers was the first ever over a Big East program.

Gercsak swam brilliantly in his first collegiate appearance, notching first-place finishes in the 1000 free by nearly 10 seconds (9:34.43), as well as the 500 free (4:41.80) in a tri-meet against Missouri and Kentucky last weekend. Southern Illinois defeated Kentucky for the first time under head coach Rick Walker.
